Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bible FYP ("Bible FYP", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Bible FYP mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). Bible FYP was previously published under the name Bible Talk. This policy covers both.
The short version: you can read the whole Bible without creating an account. We store your highlights, notes, bookmarks, and reading progress so they sync. If you join the community, what you post is visible to other members. We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Reading activity you save. Highlights, notes, bookmarks, and shares you create so the app can show them back to you on any device signed in to the same account.
- Prayer requests. If you use the guided prayer feature, the topic you pick or the words you type are used to generate a prayer for you. You can also mark a prayer as prayed, which we record to power your streak and stats.
- Community account. To post in the community you sign in with Apple. Apple shares your name and email address with us, or a private relay address if you choose "Hide My Email". You also pick a display handle and can optionally add a profile photo.
- Community content. Thoughts you leave on a verse, prayer requests, posts, comments, reactions, and live chat messages you publish. These are visible to other members.
- Support messages. If you contact us, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
- Anonymous reader ID. When you first open the app we create an anonymous account with a random identifier so your progress can be saved. It is not linked to your name or email unless you later sign in with Apple.
- Reading progress. Which verses you have viewed, roughly how long you spent on each one, where you left off, and your daily streak. We use this to resume where you were, to show you what you have read, and to improve the order of the feed.
- Device and diagnostic data. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and time zone, plus crash and error logs if something goes wrong.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise location.
- We do not access your contacts, microphone, or health data.
- We only access your camera or photo library if you choose to add a profile photo or save a verse image, and only for that action.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not sell personal information.
2. How we use information
- To run the app: sync your highlights, notes, bookmarks, and reading position.
- To generate prayers and show your verse of the day, streaks, and stats.
- To operate the community, including showing your posts to other members and enforcing our community rules.
- To respond to support requests and reports.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- To understand, in aggregate, which features are used so we can improve the app.
We do not use your data for third party advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
3. AI generated prayers
The guided prayer feature uses a large language model to write a prayer from the topic or words you provide. Your request is sent to our server and then to an AI provider (currently Google's Gemini models) to produce the text. We send only the prayer request itself, never your name, email, or account identifier. AI providers process this text under their own terms and do not use it to train their models when accessed through their business APIs. Generated prayers are meant to help you pray, not to replace Scripture, your church, or a pastor.
4. The community is shared and public
The community in Bible FYP is visible to other members. Prayer requests, posts, comments, and chat messages you publish can be seen by anyone using the community. Your display handle and profile photo appear next to your content. Do not post anything you would not want other people to see, and do not include other people's private information.
You can report any post, comment, or message and block any member from inside the app. Reported content is reviewed and removed if it violates our Terms of Service. We may keep records of reports and enforcement actions for safety purposes.
5. Who we share information with
- Service providers. Companies that host our infrastructure and provide features on our behalf, bound by contract to use the data only for that purpose. Today this means Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage, hosted in the United States), Google (AI generated prayer text), and Apple (Sign in with Apple, the App Store, and crash reporting if you have opted in with Apple).
- Other members. Content you publish in the community, together with your handle and photo, is shared with other members as described above.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
- Business transfers. If we merge with or are acquired by another company, your information may be transferred as part of that deal. We will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We never sell your personal information and never share it with third parties for their own marketing.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, highlights, notes, bookmarks, reading progress, and community content are deleted or anonymized within 30 days, except where we need to keep a copy to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our terms. Anonymous accounts with no activity for 24 months may be deleted automatically.
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. Open your profile in the app and choose "Delete account", or email us. This removes your data as described above.
- Access or export. Email us and we will send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct. You can change your handle and profile photo in the app at any time.
- Permissions. You can revoke camera and photo access in iOS Settings at any time.
- Community. You can read the Bible and use prayer without ever joining the community.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise these rights by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for doing so. Our legal bases for processing under the GDPR are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing the Service, and your consent where we ask for it.
8. Children
Bible FYP is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The community requires Sign in with Apple, which requires an Apple ID. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it to operate the Service. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong Apple ID password and keep your device updated.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our servers are located there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
